to build walls

Marie is a talented young ballerina. She meets Henrik,a wealthy college-boy one summer while staying at her uncle's house. Suddenly, Henrik...
Marie: Everyone is lived. They run around in the streets, and here am I, eating and drinking. At the theatre we dance about and frolic. Henrik lies out there starting to rot. A moment before we were laughing about everything. He lay in my arms. I kissed his lips.
Uncle Erland: That's life.
Marie: Is there no meaning anywhere?
Uncle Erland: No, my girl. Nothing means anything in the long run.
Marie: I don't believe God exists. And if he does, I hate him. And I'll never stop hating him. If he stood before me, I'd spit in his face. I'll hate him for as long as I live. I won't forget. I'll hate him till the day I die.
Uncle Erland: There's only one thing one can do. Protect oneself, build walls. Protect oneself from the touch of misery. I'll help you. I'll help to wall you up.Monolog of Marie:
That winter i worked hard, without thinking. In the spring, uncle Erland took me on a long journey. In this way I forgot Henrik. The wall grow around me, In the end I wasn't just protected, but locked up. In this way I forgot Henrik. I forgot Henrik.from <Summer Interlude>, Ingmar Bergman, 1951

why we do not "ask for"
we give up hopes,
so we have no request for almost anything.
including love.

why we dare not to "give"
from the reason that we have had too much frustrations and disappointments in life?
or we have changed to be "an old egoist"?
"You are an old egoist, Father. You are completely inconsiderate and you have never listened to anyone but yourself. All this is well hidden behind your mask of old-fashioned charm and your friendliness. But you are hard as nails, even though everyone depicts you as a great humanitarian."
i can not forget this.
why?

let's pray let's celebrate let's get lost
Please don't and happy new year
please don't. please don't ruin the goodness between poeple, the goodness that not much left over. please don't destroy the confidence between friends, the confidence that already hard to find. why a crazy atmosphere should degrade poeple like that. is it that hard to just be ourselves? -- well, yes. maybe. so i hate it.
please give me back my peace, show me a bright new year. may everthing be clean.

Let's celebrate
GOD will listen to the pray from such a pure heart.i'm so moved by this.
my dear friend, we live in a crazy crazy world.i can smell the stupid atmosphere every everyday.and i lost almost all my hopes these years. but also because of this, my friend,i get some satisfaction toward my poor situation.i suspect that we are all winners in some sense.we are so true, so "original", and still not hunger ourselves to death yet.what a successful life we are leading.
but you know ,little fattie,no words will suffice to convey my grief toward the new year. i feel so contented, so warm by your friendship, and so hopeless and helpless toward happiness.
but, the most important, i am sure that i have a peaceful mind. and you too.
so let's celebrate tomorrow.Piggie 2006-01-03 20:21:46

happy new year
this morning, when i got up, i was so happy to find it's snowing outside.
the first snow in Beijing in the winter of 2005.
and today, the last day of 2005, i finally find out why i met so many difficulties in my life.
the problom is that i am so inept at showing out my weakness to others.
and, i am a woman.
so i must suffer.
hummm, stupid, i am.

In Rare Move, Journalists Strike Paper in Beijing
By DAVID LAGUE
International Herald Tribune
Published: December 31, 2005
BEIJING, Dec. 30 - About 100 journalists from one of China's most aggressive daily newspapers have taken a rare step for China and gone on strike after the paper's editor and two of his deputies were fired, local journalists said Friday.Yang Bin, the editor of The Beijing News, and Sun Xuedong and Li Duoyu, his deputies, were dismissed Wednesday as part of what media advocacy groups described as a sweeping government campaign to tighten control over the media and the Internet.
The striking journalists, about a third of the staff, stopped work on Thursday after editors from the paper's conservative parent, The Guangming Daily, were appointed to replace Mr. Yang and his deputies.
The Beijing News was published Friday but the names of its editors, normally printed on the tabloid's masthead, had been omitted.
Senior editors from the paper were unavailable for comment.
The dismissals were a reminder that the Communist Party remained determined to maintain control over news organizations despite sometimes encouraging journalists to expose corruption and criticize mistaken policies.
"In China you need to know how to do things, and there are boundaries that you are not supposed to overstep," said Lu Yiyi, a senior research fellow at Chatham House, a London-based international affairs institute. "I think there are always individuals who are not as skilled at this as they should be."
A Paris-based group that advocates on behalf of the news media, Reporters Without Borders, condemned the firings and noted that editors of other mainland China newspapers that tackled sensitive subjects had also been purged this year.
Founded in 2003 as a joint venture of the Communist Party-controlled but financially struggling Guangming Daily and the Southern Daily newspaper group, The Beijing News has a reputation as one of mainland China's boldest newspapers. Circulation figures for mainland newspapers tend to be unreliable, but senior staff members said The Beijing News had daily sales of 80,000 to 100,000 copies.
Local journalists said the newspaper's staff had not been given an official reason for the firings, but noted that the paper had been testing the limits of official tolerance with some of its recent coverage.
The paper made its name with aggressive reporting of official misconduct, including a violent crackdown in June on villagers protesting plans to build a power plant in Hebei Province. Two officials were later arrested after other papers and the electronic media picked up the story.
There has also been speculation that sharply critical editorials on official corruption and poor government decision-making has angered senior government officials.
"Under the administration of President Hu Jintao, a major crackdown on the media has taken effect," the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists said in a recent statement. The committee said China imprisoned more journalists than any other government.
